Table View Dance Academy is a dance studio which offers classical ballet classes for all ages. Class work is based on the Royal Academy of Dance examination curriculum, forming the foundation for developing performance, creativity and artistry in dance.
The foundations of classical ballet technique is taught in a fun, imaginative way using characters and stories which the students can relate to. The classes focus on developing fine and gross motor skills, musicality, performance and creativity in ballet. Students between ages 3 to 7 years may participate in these classes.
From Primary to Advance 2, students focus on refining their technical proficiency and artistry in performance through examinations, eisteddfods and show work. Class content is broken down into fun, interactive activities according to each individual’s learning styles. Class content also includes Character work for junior students, and Pointe, Repertoire and Body Conditioning for senior students.
These classes offer the foundations of classical ballet technique at a beginner level designed specifically for adults with no or limited previous dance experience. Enjoyment and exploration of technique is the primary focus of this class and welcomes adults of all ages.
Table View Dance Academy is a learner-centred dance studio which uses international contemporary teaching methods. We value student contribution and peer work in constructing a socially and culturally relevant learning system. The students’ ideas and opinions contribute to class plans, creating a friendly, supportive learning environment where everyone’s input is significant. Our primary goal is to ensure ballet is fun, educational and fosters a dancer’s love and passion for a life time.
Angelika Heald started teaching in 2007 under Rosemary Wilson and Veronique Vleghert where her love and passion for teaching dance grew out of her previous dancing experience in ballet, modern and tap dancing. She qualified with a Bachelor of Music (Dance) degree from the University of Cape Town in 2012, working as an assistant teacher for various studios in Cape Town for three years. In 2015, Angelika founded Table View Dance Academy after taking over from Melanie Seeger and is currently undertaking her Master in Arts Education (Dance) degree with the Royal Academy of Dance. She has a deep rooted passion for children and dance education, believing that every student should have an opportunity to dance at least once in their life. Her wish is to pass on her love and passion in dance to others so that they too may find their purpose in life.
